Saturdays Workout - Bandana Technique

Another great technique is displayed as Sandy's wonderful example on the above link.

Here is my 1st attempt at this technique but I certainly will have another go as it's such fun to try. I can't wait to view the other entries - always inspiring! I think it would have worked better with some extra yellow but didn't have any!

Dans ma maison il y a un arbre

This is an appropriate theme for me today as I am off to visit a local arboretum , hoping to take lots of great autunmal photos with my new digital SLR camera. The problem is that it's pouring with rain so I might just have to settle for creating more tree artwork instead!

Anyway I enjoyed putting my tree house together.

Haute Couture or just bizarre?

This is my entry for this weeks challenge on gothic arches. The theme is Haute couture. I did change the label to correct my little spelling error but haven't got time to rescan!
I hope you like it anyway

Have a great week everyone!

Tongue Twister

Bet you can't do this! People often comment about my dogs long tongue but I didn't realise quite how long it is until I took this photo and saw it spiralled right around! ( Click on the image for full size & you will see what I mean!!)

Gothic Arches Challenge - Turquoise

This is my turquoise entry for todays Gothic Arch Challenge.
I have used wax, clear embossing powder and the speckeldy effect is a splash of adirondack, over the embossing glaze which was dryed quickly with a heat gun.

Hope you all have a fun week!

Gothic Arches - Tribute Arch

My freestyle arch is a tribute to Paul Newman who sadly died this week. Although he was twice my age at his time of death I remember having a picture of him in my purse (along with that of Tony Curtis) when I was young. He defined the meaning of handsome.
I chose a blue background as his eyes were such a piercing blue.
One of the things that I most admired was his loyalty to his wife, quite rare in Hollywood. Apparently when questioned about this he said " Why have hamburger when you have steak at home".

Dans Ma Maison Challenge - Vintage

The photo from yesterdays newspaper feat. Grace Kelly was published just in time to incorporate into my vintage collage. Her classic beauty is timeless and she would still be considered gorgeous today!

The background uses distress inks, a vintage themed rubber stamp and the tulips are courtesy of Xyron Design Runner!

Gothic Arches Challenge - Favourite movie

I don't know where you all get the time from! I had resolved to try to do at least two challenges a week but as you can see this is my 1st since mid July. I was never great at resolutions! Still I love looking at everyones else entries but my apologies - I don't always have the time to comment as they are all so great!

My favourite challenges are definitely the arches and maisons so here is this weeks entry. I just love watching this film with my daughter - so romantic!!

Gothic arches- Cats

This is my entry for the gothic arches theme this week. Gothic arches and Dans la maison are my favourite challenges due to the fact that I love the shape of these mini pieces of art so once I have enough pieces I intend to use them as a border in a scrapbooking page - Should be colourful if nothing else and at the rate of no more than 1 a week might be a while yet!

Dans ma maison il ya - du rose

I'm still in encaustic wax mode but scrimping as usual!! Normally my attempts to save money by using photocopies or poor copy home printed images in my scrapbooking don't work but I still experiment with cheaper options. Rather than use expensive encaustic waxes I had read that crayons can work so I have used these on this maison. ( I used candles the other day- what a mess!!- these definitely do not work and all I had was a greasy mess to clean up!!

Crayons do not give me the lovely texture which can be manipulated as with encaustic waxes but have been used here for the pink background are ok for this type of artwork.

Gothic Arches - Mermaids Challenge

I bought these encaustic waxes last week so have been dabbling. The mermaid challenge is just in time for me to utilise one of my new backgrounds. I don't think my family were too impressed that I have now claimed the travel iron as yet another art product.

Mona in Art- Sunday postcard art challenge

Hi

This is my attempt using an encaustic wax background and collage. I love experimenting with new techniques and am having fun if nothing else!!

Lots to do Challenges - Butterflies

This is my entry for the above challenge!! I just love medallions so I have used a newly aquired medallion stamp. I love butterflies too so this is a great challenge from my point of view.

Crazy Amigo - Lyrics Challenge

Todays Challenge was Lyrics - So I have chosen a golden oldie for my ATC- I'm showing my age now!!

Created by hand - Pattern and fancy Paper

Today I have used a scrapbook page of my nephews wedding. I have used a black and white, scripted patterned paper to compliment the BW photos. I incorporated a mini album containing 24 mini photos into the scrapbook page so the ribbons hold this securely in place. Other embellishments are die cuts - both hand made and purchased.

Arty Girlz Challenge - Faces

Today I was so chuffed:- Due to work commitments, I was unable to take part in recent art challenges but when I went to Arty Girlz - there was my 'Paint' challenge on their sampler. It is the nearest thing that I ever have had to the teacher putting my work up on the classroom wall so now I know how my kids feel when this happens!! Just for today my hubby and kids have not been allowed to call me Mum , but have had to refer to me as 'Oh artistic one, whilst bowing' in order to have any requests met!

Anyway I've been trying to do a bit of catchup so here is my entry for the faces Challenge. I have used a combination of Adirondack inks, my design runner and digitally altered art.

4 X 4 Challenge - Numbers

I missed the bingo challenge last week but had a fab new bingo stamp arrived this morning that I was keen to use so 'numbers' fitted the theme.

I just love 'Bonnie' so I'm sure she will be used frequently.

I think my husband is slightly concerned about the daily delivery of rubber stamps.

Unfortunately both ebay and stamping are quite addictive but I'm sure a few of you feel the same!

Inspire me Thursday - Hummingbirds

What an amazing coincidence. My hummingbird stamp arrived yesterday in the post and yesterdays challenge was hummingbirds!
This is my atc that I have made using twinkle H2Os, stamps and embossing plus a hint of distress on the background. I have deliberately aimed to keep it simple.

Arty Girlz Challenge - Paint/Recycling Challenges

This card created on the back of a cereal packet uses a combination of a great Stamp, embossed French script and painted it with Twinkling H2Os. I really love these collage stamps. I must admit I was quite pleased with the end result and reluctant to give it away! This was originally part of the Arty Girlz Paint Challenge and when I 1st read the comment from Julie that I should add it to the recycling I was a bit offended because I assumed she meant I should throw it in the bin!!
I had forgotten that it was using recycled materials! We arty types can be sensitive souls sometimes.

Rainbow Challenge

This is my entry for the Rainbow Challenge.

A great theme today- Thanks

Dans la maison - Metal

This weeks challenge is Metal. I chose gold!
I have cheated slightly sono metal in sight. All gold is embossed onto the lace flowers with a few gold stickies.

Theme Thursday - Woman ATC

Womans Priorities

Here is my post for the Thursday challenge - 1230am - How sad is that!

Wednesday Stamper - Altered Playing Cards

Back to work tomorrow so I caught up on some scrapbooking & todays challenge but probably won't do any for a while due to work commitments. Back to reality unfortunately.

I got carried away with todays Altered playing card challenge as I liked my new background stamp so much that I did a matching tag. The roses seemed so romantic that I had to choose hearts as my chosen suite. - Nearest thing to romance that I get these days!!

Tuesday 27 May 2008

Crazy Amigo - Asian

Another excuse for an ATC. A combination of stamping, Twinking H2Os and image with Thanks courtesy of:-

Tuesday Challenge - Tags

Hi

I love these sites. This was a great chance to try out my new Personal Impressions stamp. My daughter wasn't too impressed that I had incorporated her charm bracelet into my tag but that is getting my own back for her borrowing my mascara!

Monday 26 May 2008

Mixed Media Challenge - Pens & Pencils

This is my entry for todays challenge. I have interpreted the theme into ' True friends will always write'.

This in the form of my second ever ATC so I'm hoping to have a few to trade soon. I have used a combination of stamping, embossing and collage.
I couldn't wait to use my new blossom stamp but I don't think the French script shows the blossom to its full advantage.

Gothic Arch - flourish

This my first Gothic arch as part of the Flourish challenge and I'm quite pleased with it - unlike my ATC swap that I did last week :- I saw a cool ATC in my local craft shop and had my eye on it for a couple of weeks so I made my 1st ever ATC to swap and sneaked it into the swap package and slinked away quite embarrassed that mine wasn't up to scratch! Still things can only get better.
